Established on Islay in 1825 the Port Ellen distillery ceased production and was mothballed in 1983. In 2003 the stillhouse was demolished so it is unlikely that malt whisky will ever be distilled at Port Ellen again.

Don’t despair however as both independent and distillery bottlings are still available, are readily enjoyable and could also be a good investment for the future.
